Interpretation

Donald Schön (1930–1997) studied how architects, therapists and engineers actually work, and found something the textbooks did not describe: a practitioner in a difficult case is not applying a rule, but having a conversation with a situation that answers back. The Reflective Practitioner (1983) is where that account lives.
