Privacy

The short version: this site does not ask who you are, and it is built to need as little information about you as possible.

What is collected

There are no accounts, no sign-up forms, no comments and no newsletter. The site sets no tracking or advertising cookies, and does not build a profile of you or sell data about you to anyone.

Server logs

Like any site on the internet, the hosting provider records basic technical information when a page is requested — an IP address, the page requested, a timestamp, and the browser's user-agent string. This is standard infrastructure logging used to serve the site and diagnose faults; it is retained by the host for a limited period and is not combined with anything else to identify you.

Analytics

There is no third-party analytics script on this site — no Google Analytics, no tracking pixels, no session recording. If privacy-respecting, aggregate analytics are ever added, this page will be updated to say so before they are switched on.

Cookies

The site sets one cookie, NEXT_LOCALE. It records which of the two languages you are being shown — a two-letter code and nothing else: no identifier, nothing that can be traced back to you — so the choice survives from one page to the next. It is written the first time you arrive, from the language your browser asks for, and rewritten if you switch language yourself. Nothing but this site ever reads it. There are no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies of any kind, which is why there is no cookie banner to dismiss.

What stays in your browser

Other preferences — such as the state of the map — are kept in your own browser rather than in a cookie. That information stays on your device, is never sent anywhere, and clearing your browser storage removes it.

Third parties

The site is served by a hosting provider that processes requests on its behalf, and fonts and assets are served from the site itself rather than from external networks. Pages link out to other sites; once you follow a link, that site's own privacy practices apply, not this one's.

Your rights

Because no personal data is collected beyond transient server logs, there is normally nothing held about you to access, correct or delete. If you believe otherwise, you can ask what is held and request its deletion, and the request will be honoured where the data exists. Readers in the European Union may also complain to their national data-protection authority.

Changes to this notice

If the way the site handles data changes — for example if analytics are introduced — this page will be revised first, and the review date below updated.
