When does representation become sufficient?

About the threshold at which a model, report, or image of a situation is close enough to the situation itself to be trusted for a decision.
Why it matters
Every substitute is sufficient for something. The question is never whether a representation is faithful in general but whether it is faithful for the decision about to be made on it — and that decision is usually made by someone who never saw the thing represented.
