About the pipeline that produces expert judgment, and what happens to that pipeline when entry-level tasks — historically how expertise was built — are the first to be delegated.
Why it matters
Expertise has always been made in the lower rungs of real work — the routine cases, done badly, corrected by someone who could see why. Those rungs are the first thing automation takes, and no one has yet described a replacement that produces the same judgment without the same years.
