Diagnostic · Assumption check

About the difference between producing something because it serves a purpose someone could state, and producing it because the process that used to require justification now runs on its own.

Why it matters

Most output is produced because producing it is what the role does. The question is uncomfortable in exactly the places where it is most needed, and asking it out loud is usually mistaken for a complaint about effort rather than a request for a reason.
